Our menu contains a healthy balance of highly nutritious and great tasting food. All food is prepared at the setting freshly every day for the children. We run a 6 week rotational menu we also value you and your child's opinion on our menus and will always take these views into consideration when preparing our meals.

We both hold a current Food Hygiene Certificate and are constantly updating our knowledge on healthy eating for young children. In addition to this menu for a small charge we will prepare a healthy packed lunch for school age children. Please ask for more details.

For more information on food that contains allergens read this booklet.

In September 2014, changes were announced regarding regulations on food allergens and new duties were placed on childcare providers, which came into effect in December 2014.

As a result of this, it is the duty of all child care settings to make arrangements to ensure all children’s food requirements are met to prevent possible allergic reaction.

When your children first start Oaks Childcare, in our parent pack we make provision for you to voice your concerns of any possible food allergies, sensitivities and preferences. This is to ensure all our children are protected from any possible reactions to food. We would ask Please can you continually let us know if you think your child is allergic or sensitive to any foods.

We list all ingredients of any food products the children make and label the packaging so you are aware of the ingredients, we will also inform you verbally as usual when your child takes something home.

We will also do four example menus with all allergens listed displayed, so you can see how we are managing possible food allergies. We have also attached a booklet on the web site for your information.

Myself Mary Peto, Katy Ruiz-Aguilar and Graham Peto have valid first aid certificates, during the first aid course it covers the different food reaction children may experience and how to use epi-pens, but to ensure we follow the new guidelines we have completed a course with the Food Standards Agency to refresh ourselves of the different food allergies and their reactions.

I hope these measures will put your minds at rest that all precaution be met.
